I taught myself to build, then built the place to do it: a homelab assembled from salvaged hardware — retired enterprise iron alongside thin clients that draw single-digit watts.

The constraint is the point. Every system here had to work on hardware somebody else threw away, which means it runs on my own terms — no cloud invoice, no third party holding the data.

geosynopsis

GeoSynopsis turns 82,764 census tracts into plain-language answers about the places they describe. Local LLMs run across a swarm of salvaged thin clients, feeding a retrieval pipeline that keeps every answer anchored to the source records rather than to a model's memory.

Nothing leaves the lab. The corpus is never handed to an outside model to read.
